I'm so proud!

So I'm in the ambulance last night and my ambulance partner Jenn, nonchalantly announces that she decided to start a blog a week ago.  I was suddenly overcome with excitement, joy, jubilation, and was a little ticked off she waited a whole week to tell me!

Mind you, I'm sure Jenn's decision to blog has very little to do with me, but I'm going to try to take as much credit as I can for this.  I have no immediate blogging buddies so to have someone that sits next to me for 24-48 hours a week as excited as I am to blog is a very big deal!

You've heard of Jenn before as she has been mentioned a few times in my blog but I usually refer to her as Mini. Just about everyone calls her that but I have the privilege of actually calling her Miniature, but that right is solely mine and I am very territorial about it.  The only thing mini about Jenn is her size.  She has a huge heart, huge personality, and is a huge supporter of just about any endeavor I decide to undertake so I am very lucky to call her my friend and EMT partner!

So lets show Mini some love at her new blog Girl Defying Gravity.   I am so excited she was able to get this name because it suits her so perfectly.   She blogs about food, friends, fitness, shopping and the everyday quirkiness of life.  It's a very entertaining read!

She just did a post about our girls cookie baking exchange day and I'm the one that made the sea salt caramels she was raving about. (Yes, I am totally tooting my own horn.)  I don't normally make candy because I have had many disasters in the past but these did come out amazing.  Here is the recipe so you can try them out yourself!

So jump on over to Mini's blog and take a peek.  I think you will find it very entertaining and I know she would love to have some page views and even a few followers if you are so inclined.

Thanks so much,

Fife......a new love, and a giveaway!

Now that I have gotten you to click on this post so that you can check in on my love life I'll let you in on a little secret.  It's not a new man I'm in love with (I've had the same wonderful husband for several years and I'm not getting rid of him!) (I have to say that, he reads my blog), it's my new Graphitint Pencils from Derwent.   I have been experimenting with color for a while now and have had mixed results.  Sometimes I love the bold results but other times its just to much and I retreat back to the black and white  "safe zone" that I love so much.  Recently I began experimenting with Mi Teintes papers by Canson and discovered that I wasn't thrilled with traditional graphite on the colored paper.  On a recent trip to Dick Blick I found these Graphitint pencils.

These are tinted graphite pencils with just a hint of color.  They are very easy to use, blend well, and according to the box are also water soluble but I haven't tried them in that format yet.  They add just enough color to be non-threatening, but can add a new dimension to your Zentangles.

This weeks Diva Challenge was to use the new official tangle Fife.  Fife is a great tangle because not only is it easy and fast, but it has the potential for tons of tangleations.  Here is the tile I created using Fife and my new Graphitint pencils.

Tangle:  Fife
As is the case with many of my tiles, I started out with one vision and ended up with something totally different.  When I saw that this tile was heading towards being a monotangle I knew that each ribbon would need something to define it and that's where my new Graphitint pencils came into play.  I love the result!

Wouldn't you love to try these Graphitint pencils?  As a celebration of the massive response I received to the publication of the steps for my first tangle Socc I am giving away a set of 12 Derwent Graphitint Pencils.  Here's how to enter to win:

1.  Become a follower of this blog.

2.  Follow the blog by email.

3.  Provide a link back from your blog or list this blog in your blogroll.

4.  Create a tile using my tangle Socc and provide a link in the comments section.

5.  If you are already a follower or receive this blog by email, leave me a comment letting me know.

Leave me a comment letting me know which one of the options above you have chosen.  You must leave a separate comment for each option above if you would like to be entered multiple times, i.e. if you become a follower and list me in your blog roll please leave two comments for two chances to win.

I will post a winner on Monday December 12 and the winner will have until midnight on December 14 to claim their prize.

This week the Diva challenged us to "biggify" our tangles.  The challenge was to make the tangles bigger while keeping the paper and pen size the same.  Initially I didn't think this was much of a challenge and I breezed through the tangles.  The trouble came when it was time to shade.  I felt like the "biggified" shading looked clumsy and not nearly as effective as it's smaller counterpart.  In the end, I was happy with the result but this challenge definitely gave me a new perspective.

Tangles:  Chemystery, Printemps, Cubine
